International Wedding in Val d’Orcia
THAI TRADITION MEETS TUSCAN CHARM
Borgo Sant’Ambrogio is a historic estate near Pienza, set in the heart of the Val d’Orcia landscape. Surrounded by rolling hills, cypress trees and open countryside, it offers a beautiful setting for couples travelling to Tuscany to celebrate their wedding.
The celebration of A&N took place over two days. It began with a traditional Thai wedding ceremony followed by a relaxed poolside reception. The following day continued with a symbolic ceremony, an aperitif in the gardens and dinner in the courtyard of Borgo Sant’Ambrogio.
The Thai Marriage Ceremony
The celebrations began with a traditional Thai wedding ceremony held in the courtyard of Borgo Sant’Ambrogio. Friends and family were guided by monks through a meditation before the ceremony itself. One of the central rituals involved guests pouring blessed water over the couple’s hands, a meaningful moment symbolising wishes for prosperity and happiness in their marriage.
Welcome Pool Party
After the ceremony, the atmosphere shifted to a relaxed poolside reception. Guests gathered near the pool for a Thai buffet, drinks and outdoor games, enjoying the warm Tuscan afternoon before the following day’s celebrations.
The Wedding Day
The next day began with preparations shared with close friends and the bridal party. The bride and bridesmaids wore coordinated gowns in white and floral patterns, echoing the soft colour palette of the bouquets and floral arrangements.
The Symbolic Wedding Ceremony
The symbolic ceremony took place on the shaded terrace overlooking the Val d’Orcia hills.
The altar was decorated simply with two wooden columns topped with floral urns, and the ceremony itself was officiated by a close friend of the couple.
Guests were invited to write messages and advice for the couple on small wooden hearts, and later showered them with rose petals as confetti to celebrate the moment.

The Wedding Dinner
Borgo Sant’Ambrogio’s secluded courtyard provided the setting for the wedding dinner. As the sun set over the Val d’Orcia hills, guests gathered around round tables arranged throughout the courtyard.
The atmosphere felt intimate and relaxed, with candlelight and simple floral decorations enhancing the setting.
Speeches and Celebration
Dinner was accompanied by speeches and games between courses prepared by Chef Duccio Prussi. After the meal, the celebration continued in the courtyard with cake cutting, music and dancing.
