When Nick contacted us to photograph his surprise marriage proposal in Florence, we had an in-dept chat to understand what was his exact vision and how we could best help him achieve it.
Two factors where most important to Nick: he wanted the best possible view of Florence as a backdrop to his fiancé reaction and he wanted her to be 100% happy about her look.
So together we decided the best approach was to let her fiancé know he had booked an Italian photographer to take their portrait wondering around Florence, and we set on San Miniato al Monte as the perfect surprise proposal location at sunset.
However, when we arrived we were immediately caught in the middle of a storm with heavy rain... so we waited. As soon as the rain cleared we moved towards the middle of the terrace, now totally empty of people and with a beautiful dramatic sky opening in front of us. We took some photographs, and then asked Nick's girlfriend to look at the view few steps ahead of Nick, before turning slowly towards him... and then she said yes!
After the proposal, we continued the engagement photoshoot walking down the river Arno, passing near Ponte Vecchio and ending in Palazzo Vecchio square.
