The Location
Villa Tolomei in Florence
Villa Tolomei is a historic Renaissance residence set on the hills overlooking Florence, now restored as a five-star hotel just a few minutes from the historic centre. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and the rolling landscape typical of the Florentine countryside, the property offers a peaceful setting while remaining close to the city.
The estate includes several spaces that naturally lend themselves to different moments of a wedding day: Italian gardens, a private courtyard, terraces overlooking the hills and a pool area with wide views across Tuscany. Together they create a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere for a destination wedding in Florence.
A Cool Wedding Day
Lauren and Ben asked for their wedding photographs to be captured in a natural, unobtrusive style that reflected the atmosphere of the day and the beautiful September light. The focus was on documenting people and moments as they unfolded rather than staging portraits. This approach allowed the celebration to flow naturally while still capturing the details, interactions and quiet gestures that defined the day.

The Reception
The aperitif took place under the pergola in the west garden, overlooking the olive grove and the surrounding hills. Guests gathered there for drinks and conversation while the evening light settled over the countryside. Catering was provided by Villa Tolomei’s restaurant Il Conventino a Marignolle, known for its interpretation of traditional Tuscan cuisine.
Later, dinner was served on the villa’s terrace at a single long imperial table. The décor remained elegant and understated — white tableware, silver cutlery, green foliage with touches of aromatic herbs and olive branches, and simple white flowers.
