A timeless photoshoot at the Colosseum

Visiting Italy is often more than a simple holiday. For many families it becomes an experience filled with discoveries, from art and history to food, landscapes and moments shared together. In Rome, few places are as recognisable as the Colosseum and the surrounding Imperial Forum. The area offers a powerful backdrop for a family photoshoot, combining monumental architecture with the atmosphere of one of the most historic cities in Europe. For P+R’s family photoshoot in Rome we chose the Colosseum and scheduled the session early in the morning, when the light is soft and the streets around the monument are still relatively quiet. Spring weather, however, had other plans. Rain had been falling for days and the forecast offered no clear windows. Instead of postponing, the family decided to embrace the moment. With umbrellas in hand and the streets almost empty, the children ran and played in the rain while we photographed the scene - creating a set of images that felt spontaneous, joyful and entirely their own.
