Borgo di Castelvecchio, just outside of Pienza, was the spectacular location for this elegant Norwegian black tie destination wedding.
The ceremony was held in the garden of the estate in front of one of the best views over the Val d’Orcia.
The history of Borgo di Castelvecchio is lost in the mists of time. The first official historical documentation of the estate dates back to 1279 although the origins can be dated back at least to 1064. The history of the place and its unique position makes it the perfect wedding venue for an elegant and understated wedding in Tuscany.
The bride and her bridesmaids decided to get ready for the wedding at Casale Castelvecchio, an elegantly restored stone farmhouse few minutes drive away from the main Borgo Estate - to enjoy more privacy and a beautiful views of the Orcia valley from the garden pool.
The groom and his groomsmen got ready for the Wedding at La Canonica, one of the villas apartments situated within the main Borgo di Castelvecchio buildings.
The Symbolic Ceremony
OVERLOOKING THE ORCIA VALLEY
The symbolic ceremony was held in the garden of Borgo di Castelvecchio. The decor was kept minimal - simple wooden chairs with white cushions and flowers at the end of the aisle - to let the beautiful over the Orcia valley be the hero.
An old circular construction, totally covered in green ivy, was chosen to be the altar as a natural focal point.
Aperitif Around the Pool
The aperitif area chosen for this elegant destination wedding in Val d’Orcia was the pool area, right next to the ceremony location.
Delicious Tuscan appetisers were served at a buffet together with refreshments, champagne and Aperol Spritz.
A table was set up with a Polaroid camera and guest book and tall tables scattered all around the pool to let guests enjoy the beautiful landscape of Val d’Orcia, an iconic Unesco World heritage site, until sunset.
The Bridal Party
Whether during family photographs or at the beginning of the couple session, it's always important to allocate a bit of time for some pictures with your dearest friends
The Courtyard Wedding Dinner
One of the most recognisable area of Borgo di Castelvecchio is the ancient courtyard. After sunset it is the ideal location for an outdoor dinner as it preserves the authentic atmosphere of a Tuscan Village and feels intimate and secluded.
THE AFTER PARTY
A great Wedding, deserves nothing less than a great after party!
For this Norwegian destination Wedding, the area designated for the first dance and party was indoor, with a banner with the bride and groom names as a subtle backdrop.
Between the various cocktails served at the open bar, there were the bride and groom signature drinks Hugo Spritz and Moscow Mule (if you know us, well... you know they are our favourite too!).
